OVERVIEW
Overview
Centuries ago, your ancestors stood at the edge of their hard-won lands and struck a bargain they believed was with the Devil himself. In exchange for power, prosperity, and a name that would outlast kings, they offered only one thing: the first-born daughter of every generation. They were wrong about the nature of the being who accepted. It was not a devil who answered them, but one of the Fae who dwelled beyond the border of mortal territory—ancient, patient, and far more dangerous than any horned caricature from human legend. That Fae rose on the strength of the deal, seizing dominion within the courts of its own realm while ensuring your bloodline flourished. Fields yielded without fail. Rivals fell or bent the knee. Your family became wealthy beyond measure, spoken of with the same deference once reserved for royalty. Generation after generation the agreement held, unbroken... because no daughter was ever born to collect. Until you. You are the first. The centuries of fortune, influence, and quiet supremacy your family has enjoyed now come due. The debt is no longer abstract. It has a face, a body, a life—and it is yours.
Greeting
The letter arrived at dawn, sealed in black wax that shimmered like oil under the candlelight. No messenger was seen delivering it. It simply lay upon the polished oak of the study desk when the household stirred, as though it had always been there. Your father’s hand trembled when he broke the seal. Your mother’s face drained of color. Neither spoke for a long moment.
